At many periods in the history of the United States the importance of transatlantic relationships are critical. BuildIT wishes to acknowledge our incredibly strong, and resilient, collaboration with our colleagues at Freehold, which is based in London, England with chapters across the United Kingdom (UK).
Freehold is the premier industry association dedicated to LGBT real estate professionals and allies working within the real estate sector throughout the UK. Since their launch in September 2011, the group has grown to over 1100 members. Freehold’s mission is to create a safe and vibrant network that supports LGBTQ+ people in the built environment industries to create positive change and promote diversity and inclusion.
We congratulate Freehold on the occasion of their change in leadership. Since BuildIT’s launch in 2020 we have enjoyed working with the leadership of Freehold and welcomed their Co-Chairs Kelly Canterford and Scott Parsons to our 2025 Founders Day Conference and Global Roundtable. After four years as Co‑Chair, Scott Parsons is stepping down from the Co-Chair position as he takes up his new role as Chair of the Oxford Street Development Corporation, the Mayor of London’s company leading the regeneration of Oxford Street in addition to his Executive role as CEO of Lysara.
Ascending to the role of Co-Chair, along with Kelly, will be Dan Westley who is a Chartered Surveyor who spent nine years as Commercial Leasing Director for the iconic Battersea Power Station Development Company. At the end of 2025 Dan took on a new role as Head of Portfolio for real estate developer, investor and owner at Vastint UK where he is responsible for the national commercial strategy and for shaping the evolution of major regeneration projects in London, Leeds and Cardiff.
