Seatle/PNR Region take National Infrastructure Spotlight

ree

What started as a vision from Terri Mestas, Deputy CEO and Chief Capital Delivery Officer at Seattle’s Sound Transit, shined the national spotlight on the Pacific Northwest’s over $100B+ in upcoming infrastructure development projects!

BuildIT was proud to be an integral part of the working group to bring Engineering News Record’s (ENR) newest offering to the national infrastructure marketplace. The ENR Seattle Infrastructure Forum held on October 20, 2025, was an event for public and private leaders to discuss the region's infrastructure projects from the perspective of workforce development, project delivery, public funding and community benefits. Held at the Hyatt Regency Seattle, the forum featured decision-makers from organizations like Sound Transit, Washington DOT (WSDOT), the Seattle Building Trades, Tabor 100, and the Port of Seattle to explore the future of transportation, energy, and water systems in the Pacific Northwest.

The event broke all records from an engagement perspective. The number of sponsors for the event exceeded all projections, the attendance from key decision-makers from the AEC industry out-performed established milestones and the ‘vibe’ in the room was exciting, robust and collaborative.

ENR’s Publisher, Scott Seltz, provided exceptional leadership on the development of this event along with the vision for content development from Scott Blair who is ENR’s Editor in Chief and Aileen Cho who is the publication’s Deputy Editor for Transportation and Infrastructure.

Terri Mestas’ vision for the event was woven into each aspect of the event. As the Deputy Chief Executive Officer at Sound Transit, Terri oversees a $75 billion system expansion program, expanding the light rail system from 32 miles and 33 stations to 116 miles and 83 stations over the next two decades. The plan, under her leadership, also includes increasing regional commuter rail from 83 to 91 miles and introducing 45 miles of new bus rapid transit service, focusing on creating quality jobs and supporting small, historically underutilized firms.

BuildIT is looking forward to the 2026 installment of this event!  Onward and upward…
