More than a bike ride - A Ride for Life! - AIDS/LifeCycle

BuildOUT California Founder, Daniel Souza and his partner James Wang took part in the 29th Annual AIDS/LifeCycle ride across California to raise funds for the San Francisco AIDS Foundation and the Los Angeles LGBT Center. The AIDS/LifeCycle is a 7-day, 545-mile bike ride from San Francisco to Los Angeles. Together, the two raised $10,500 to support the two organizations and when combined with the funds raised by the 3,560 participants, $11,711,780 dollars were raised.

“The outpouring of support from local communities was incredible, especially from small towns in central California that were similar to where I grew up” Daniel shared. “The most memorable was a lunch stop at a school in Bradley, CA (pop. 150-ish). The school hosts AIDS/LifeCycle riders for lunch, while also preparing a BBQ fundraiser for their after-school program. This year, riders helped fundraise over $60,000 for the school’s field trips and programs” he added.

Daniel is an Environmental Group Leader & Project Manager at Jacobs where he is also part of the leadership of Prism which is Jacobs’ LGBTQ Employee Resource Group.

Thank you, Daniel and James, for your incredible determination, tenacity and legs of steel!
