Miguel Galarza - Special Guest Speaker at Building Legacy in San Francisco on Sept 25!

BuildIT is beyond honored to welcome Miguel Galarza, the newly elected Chair of the California Contractors State License Board, as a Special Guest Speaker for the Building Legacy event being produced by leading AEC Industry Organizations this coming Thursday, September 25, 2025, at the Hotel Zelos (5:00 pm to 7:30 pm)

BuildIT is also honored that our leadership was one of the first to submit a strong letter of support for Miguel’s appointment to the CSLB by Governor Gavin Newsom on June 1, 2020.

Miguel Galarza’s story began more than 40 years ago as a union carpenter, where he learned the value of craftsmanship, safety, and perseverance. Thirty years ago, he earned his B – General Building license; a moment that changed the course of his life and allowed him to build a career and a business that provided stability and opportunity for his family.

From those beginnings as a kid from San Francisco’s Mission District, he never imagined he would one day be entrusted with leading the very organization that licensed him. While he is not the first Hispanic to serve on this Board, he is humbled to be the first Hispanic contractor to chair it. This milestone is not just personal; it is a testament to the power of opportunity, mentorship, and what’s possible when doors are opened for working people.
