BuildIT wishes to celebrate our collaboration with Another Planet Entertainment in the “Re-Opening” of the historic, iconic, world-renowned, and 104-year-old Castro Theater. You truly have to see it to believe it!
Beginning nearly four years ago, BuildIT signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Another Planet Entertainment’s (APE’s) Mary Conde to form a multi-year project management program that would not only open up opportunities to work on the nearly $41 million historic renovation project, but we would serve as their partner to ensure that LGBT/Allied specialty contractors had the support to successfully deliver on their respective contracts.
Fast forward to last night where the ‘Grand Re-Opening’ Celebration was held. BuildIT Associates secured contracts totaling over $7 Million in work on the project with one of the largest contracts going to Anco Iron & Construction (Nick and Dani Colina) to provide steel materials, railings, miscellaneous metals, and steel fabrication and installation services. Other scopes of work procured through BuildIT Associates included HVAC materials, supplies and installation, masonry, final cleaning, and electrical supplies & switch gear.
Also – headlining the public relations for APE was none other than the amazing David Perry & Associates which has been an iconic California LGBT business, championing key economic development projects across the world for the past 30 years. It is also necessary to highlight the work of Bevan Dufty, whose public affairs abilities helped to communicate the value of this project to the thousands of community members who were engaged in the process.
Thanks to our elected officials, California State Senator Scott Wiener and President of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors Rafael Mandelman for their commitment to seeing this project through the almost insurmountable permitting and approval process.
The new Castro Theater is a legacy for our LGBT/Allied Communities, San Francisco, California and the World to enjoy! You really do have to see it to believe it!!
