BuildIT Welcomes Top COMTO Leadership to 'The Gathering' in Jackson Hole, WY, Nov 6-8

Meaningful collaboration with national and international industry organizations has been a key focus of BuildIT since our inception. We have been honored to work closely with the leadership of the Conference of Minority Transportation Officials (COMTO) for over five years now.

COMTO is the premier national organization for minority professionals and businesses in the transportation industry. It provides a forum for members to access opportunities, advocate for inclusion, and engage in professional development, training, and educational activities. The organization was founded in 1971 to address the lack of equitable employment and contract opportunities for minorities in the transportation sector

We are proud to welcome the following COMTO leaders to our Strategic Planning Session in Jackson Hole, Wyoming:

Joshua Cheatham, PE is the Owner, President, and CEO of Furtado & Associates, Inc., which is a consulting firm located in Seattle, Washington, that specializes in land surveying, civil engineering, construction management, and GIS mapping with a strong focus on improving public infrastructure projects in the Puget Sound region. Joshua is a board member of COMTO Washington where he is the Small Business Committee Co-Chair.

James Penn IV is the Infrastructure Practice Leader + Principal for The AIX Group, which specializes in engineering and construction management, particularly for transportation and civil infrastructure projects. The company offers services such as transportation engineering, general civil design, project management, and construction services, with a focus on delivering sustainable and client-centered solutions. James is also the First Vice-President of COMTO Southern California, where he actively champions the equitable participation and advocacy for small, minority, and historically underutilized businesses (HUBs/DBEs), ensuring they gain access to professional development, critical resources, and fair contracting opportunities within the region's massive infrastructure market.

Demauris Terry serves as the Executive Vice President/COO for BA, Inc., a civil engineering firm, and brings more than 20 years of business operations experience with a deep understanding of public agency policies and requirements.  BA, Inc. provides a range of civil engineering services, including utility and water/sewer design, drainage, project management, and construction management. Demauris is also the Immediate Past President of COMTO Southern California.
